SYDNEY: According to reports from the Sydney Morning Herald, a 35-year old successful hairdresser based in Australia was brutally murdered by her Muslim husband. The gory incident which happened inside the couple's apartment started when the husband realized that his wife had abandoned Islam and converted to Christianity.
Nasrin Abek had escaped the religious oppression and misogyny that reduced women to mere physical objects in Iran by migrating to Australia with her husband. Free from the restrictions placed on women in her home country, she set up a hairdresser shop and became quite successful.
However, her marriage began to crumble when it was observed by her husband that she had began to behave like women in western countries. Where she went to or what she wore was her decision alone to make, her husband, 42- year old Amir Darbanou had become very upset with her sudden sense of freedom.
It was reported that their marriage became sour as both of them began living in different apartments. Amir began stalking his wife obsessively.
Nasrin Abek's end began when Amir discovered that she had committed the unpardonable offence of Apostasy. Abek had abandoned Islam and converted to a Christian. Amir couldn't bear it. According to the Quran, Apostates are to be punished by death.
Amir felt his wife had to pay with her blood. He made his way to his wife's apartment, taking her unawares, he charged at her with a knife held in his hand and ended up slaughtering and butchering his beautiful wife.
Abek's father had earlier overhead his daughter quarrel with her husband over the phone. After some days of not seeing or hearing from his daughter, he called the police several times informing them of the situation.
Later, after Amir had murdered his wife, he called Abek's father informing him that his daughter was dead. Abek's father then notified the police who later found Abek's brutalized corpse in a pool of blood at her residence.
Abek's father expressed his disappointment with the police who he said did nothing after he had raised concerns over his daughter's whereabouts.
A neighbor who chose to remain anonymous said she heard loud screams coming out of the couple's apartment and later overhearing police detectives talk about a lot of blood being spilled and splattered about inside the house.
Abek left the Islamic oppression existing in Iran by relocating to Australia only for her to meet her untimely end at the brutal hands of her husband.
The murder of Abek by her husband is just one of the ever increasing reported cases of vicious and gruesome acts of violence perpetrated almost daily by Muslims the world over.
There have been reports of honor killings committed in western countries as this has raised concern in some quarters over the implications of the massive migration of possible fundamentalist Muslim refugees from the unstable and volatile middle eastern region.
