A Saudi facility therapist was seen in a shocking video believed to have been broadcasted on the Saudi national TV giving advice on "wife beating."
News website AWDNews.com reported that the video was aired in the Saudi kingdom early this year. The video went viral after it was aired in the USA via the Washington DC's Middle East Media Research Institute in April.
AWDNews.com reported that the Saudi government approved the video after it was broadcasted on national television.
Saudi Therapist, Khaled Al-Saqaby, in the YouTube hosted video said he was aware that the issue of wife beating was a thorny one which contained numerous hazards but Allah willing they would cross the bridge unharmed.
Khaled stressed that the necessary Islamic conditions required for wife beating must be ascertained.
Mr Al Saqaby suggested that the main reason for beating a wife was to discipline her and not to express one's annoyance.
The family therapist advised that the beating shouldn't be carried out with iron rods or sharp piercing objects, but rather with objects such as the sewak tooth-cleaning twig or a handkerchief.
He explained the reasons behind wife beating by saying the goal was merely to make the wife realise her wrongs in the manner she treated her husband.
Before a wife is beaten, Mr Al-Saqaby advised that the husband reminded her of his rights and her duties, according to the will of Allah.
He said that it was unfortunate that some wives desired to live a life of equality with their husband, stressing that this was the main reasons why men beat their wives.
He said it was a very grave problem, adding that it was quite sad that some women actually tempted their husbands to beat them.
